More than 150 people work at the Institute of Nuclear Physics. Many of these people are scientists. They want to learn something about our nature. They know that nature is made up of different particles. These particles cannot be seen with the eye. But the scientists want to understand exactly how these particles behave.

To do this, they conduct large experiments. One important piece of equipment is the MAMI accelerator. Particles are accelerated there. This means they are made very fast. These particles are called electrons. The MAMI accelerator is unique in the world. It has been existing for many years.

The scientists are also currently building a new accelerator. It is called MESA. This device will make even more experiments possible in the future.

Many other people also help to make MAMI and MESA work. These people often work in a workshop.
